• Request to Activate a New RA (Registration Authority)

The request to activate a new Registration Authority for the IGI infrastructure must be first addressed to the INFN-CA, the Italian Certification Authority.

The Organisation Manager must send to the INFN-CA a formal letter of appointment using an official letterform, according to the following template:

Note that:

The L field:

• must not contain special characters (apart from dashes),
• must be short: possibly one word,
• must clearly identify the Institution.

In the L field, the suggested name will be preceded by the name of the country.

The RAs will be identified by the personnel of the INFN CA in a face-to-face meeting.

In addition, for the new organization to be admitted to the IGI JRU (Joint Research Unit Italian Grid Infrastructure), a formal request must be send to the IGI Management at the following address:

The request must contain the following information:

• A short description of the Organization
• The reasons to participate to IGI (ie. partnership in Italian research projects funded by MIUR or other research institutions).
• A declaration that the gLite middleware will be installed on the grid elements and that those elements will be connected to the EGI/IGI European and Italian Grid infrastructure.
• The request to activate a new Registration Authority and to become member of one of the VO supported on the Italian Grid Infrastructure. 
• A declaration that the Grid will be used for research only and not for profit
